How To Check If Your Android Device Supports eSIM?

Overview

Your Android device must support eSIM and be carrier-unlocked to use eSIM. Whether a device is eSIM-compatible depends on whether the manufacturer includes an eSIM. In some countries and regions, models may be released that do not support eSIM functionality. Alternatively, the carrier you purchased the device from may not have enabled eSIM.

Check if Your Android Device is eSIM Compatible

eSIM on Samsung Galaxy:

*Note: Samsung Galaxy S devices starting from the S20 series, as well as all Galaxy Z Flip and Z Fold models, support eSIM. For mid-range devices like the Galaxy A54 and A34, eSIM availability depends on the market and carrier. Samsung’s entry-level models, such as the Galaxy A1x or M series, generally do not support eSIM.

The following Samsung Galaxy devices DO NOT have eSIM capability:

• 1) Go to Settings > Connections > SIM Manager or SIM card manager > Add eSIM or Add Mobile plan.
• 2) If “Add eSIM or Add Mobile plan” is available, your device supports eSIM or a virtual data SIM card.

US, China, Hong Kong, and South Korea:

Most restrictions; many models sold there don’t support eSIM.

Most flagship devices support eSIM starting from the Galaxy S20 series onward.

Mid-range (A series):

Only newer, higher-end A models (like A54, A34) may support eSIM, and even then, only in some regions.

eSIM on Google Pixel:

*Note: All Pixel smartphones, including Google’s “a” series devices, are equipped with eSIM support, starting from the Pixel 4 series onwards. For earlier Pixel models, eSIM functionality is restricted to certain regions and carrier networks.

The following Google Pixel devices DO NOT have eSIM capability:

eSIM on OPPO/Other Android Devices:

1) Go to your dialer app > enter *#06# > press the call button. While checking eSIM support via EID works, it doesn't help with daily usage. With the eSIM KH Android App, you can monitor real-time data usage and manage your active eSIMs more conveniently after installation.

2) A pop-up window will appear with your device information.

3) If you see the eSIM unique identification number (EID), your phone supports eSIM.

Check if Your Android Device is Carrier Unlocked

Your device must also be carrier-unlocked to use eSIM. This enables you to use multiple SIM cards or eSIM cards from different operators. Here are two methods to check if your Android device is carrier-unlocked.

Method 1: Use Another SIM Card

1) Remove the original SIM card from your phone.

2) Insert another SIM card from a different mobile network operator.

3) If you can successfully make calls or send text messages using another SIM card or see that the carrier name at the top of the phone screen has changed, your phone may be unlocked. Otherwise, it means your phone is tied to the original provider and is not compatible with eSIM.

Method 2: Contact Your Seller / Service Provider

1) If you purchased your phone directly from a manufacturer like Samsung, it may be unlocked.

2) If you purchased your device from a telecom provider (e.g., Orange, T-Mobile, or AT&T), it may be restricted to their network. Contact the provider for confirmation. They can inform if your phone is network locked and assist with unlocking it if necessary.
